The other aspect is considering how the HRIEC can <br /> 271 help the police have a better relationship with the community. Another idea is to <br /> 272 provide education to businesses. <br /> 273 <br /> 274 Assistant City Manager Olson recapped that when the HRIEC discussed this <br /> 275 previously, it was decided to focus on two-way communication with the Police <br /> 276 Department and the community; the topic should be brought back to a future meeting; <br /> 277 and further research should be done regarding suggestions for the Police Chief. Then <br /> 278 the Chief would be invited to a discussion and Commissioners can inquire how the <br /> 279 HRIEC can help. <br /> 280 <br /> 281 Commissioners Eichenlaub, Djevi, and Holub volunteered to work on police- <br /> 282 community relations; each person will do their own individual research. <br /> 283 <br /> 284 Assistant City Manager Olson asked whether Commissioner would be looking for <br /> 285 approaches taken in other communities in terms of police-community relations. <br /> 286 <br /> 287 Chair Beltmann concurred that is correct. <br /> 288 <br /> 289 Other New Business or Reports <br /> 290 a. IAP2 Training <br /> 303 b. 2020 Census <br /> 304 c. New American Forum Update <br /> 305 <br /> 306 Assistant City Manager Olson provided a brief recap of all that will happen at the August <br /> 307 HRIEC meeting: <br /> 308 • Brief presentation on Roseville demographics <br /> 309 • Review survey questions for staff <br /> 310 • Review research on what other communities are doing in terms of engagement <br /> 311 • Final draft version of essay question <br /> 312 • All proclamations except human trafficking for review <br /> 313 • Submit a recap for Rosefest <br />
