<br />Constellation Captain <br />Goal/purpose: Assist in management of a citywide Natural Resource Program by providing monitoring and status <br />reports regarding natural resource issues in a designated geographic area. Partner with other volunteers to assure that <br />natural resource needs in the area are adequately addressed in a timely manner. <br /> <br />Impact: Constellation Captains directly contribute to restoring, protecting and maintaining Roseville's natural resources <br />for future generations. They inspire others to become stewards of the environment and increase the City's capacity to <br />manage and engage the public in actively restoring and protecting our natural resources. <br /> <br />Number needed: Minimum 1 in each identified Constellation in the City of Roseville <br />Point of contact: Sector Leader <br />Partners with: Sector Leader, volunteers <br />Maintains communication with: Sector Leader <br /> <br />Time Commitment: <br /> 1 year <br /> 1 to 2 events per year, 2 to 3 hours each <br /> Estimated 4 to 8 hours per month, including monitoring and reporting twice each month, dependent on growing <br />season <br />Duties: <br /> At least twice per month walk through areas identified by Parks Superintendent to monitor restoration efforts and <br />needs, i.e. regrowth of invasive plants, and/or needs for enhancement. <br /> Remove invasive plants when/as needed and as able and feasible. <br /> Submit project condition reports for parks in assigned constellation area. <br /> Report to Sector Leader on a regular (monthly at minimum) basis. <br /> Identify area/projects in need of natural resource monthly volunteer event. <br /> Partner with sector leader to assure that all communication and staffing needs for monthly volunteer events are <br />covered. <br /> Serve as volunteer lead at events in assigned constellation. <br /> Market program to groups and individuals as opportunities are made available. <br /> <br />Goals for Next 6 months: <br /> <br /> Fill all Sector Leader roles <br /> Recruit one Constellation Captain for each Constellation in Sector <br /> Coordinate 3 monthly volunteer activities in each Sector <br /> Work with Stantec to establish "Observation Points" in every park <br /> Establish protocol and aids for volunteers to assess current conditions at all established observation points <br /> Mapping <br /> Spreadsheets <br /> On-line reporting <br /> <br />
