<br />City of Roseville, Parks and Recreation - Natural Resource Program Volunteer Leadership Outline <br /> <br />Sector Leader <br /> <br />Goal/purpose: Assist in management of a citywide Natural Resource Program by providing leadership to other <br />volunteers and projects in a designated geographic area and serving as that area's liaison to the Parks Superintendent. <br /> <br />Impact: Sector Leaders directly contribute to restoring, protecting and maintaining Roseville's natural resources for <br />future generations. They inspire others to become stewards of the environment and increase the City's capacity to <br />engage the public in actively restoring and protecting our natural resources. <br /> <br />Number needed: Minimum 1 in each of four sectors <br />Point of contact: Volunteer Coordinator, Park Superintendent <br />Partners with: City staff: Parks Superintendent, Volunteer Coordinator, Parks Staff and community members: <br />Constellation Captains, volunteers, general outreach audiences and community members. <br />Maintains communication with: Park Superintendent, other Sector Leaders and Constellation Captains within own <br />Sector. <br /> <br />Time Commitment: <br />1 year <br />Approximately 3 events per year, 2 to 3 hours each <br />Estimated 4 to 8 hours each month for communication/outreach/monitoring and reporting, dependent on weather <br />and growing season <br />Duties: <br />Partner with City of Roseville Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and train Constellation Captains and other <br />volunteers as needed <br /> <br />Serve as lead and point of communication for volunteers interested in projects within your geographic <br />area <br />Begin and track seed garden activities. <br />Track project condition reports from Constellation Captains in designated Sector of the City to identify areas of need <br />and determine when volunteer assistance and volunteer work events are needed. Compile information from those <br />Constellations to pass on during regular communication with Parks Superintendent. <br />Partner with other sector leaders to coordinate with University of Northwestern and other volunteer efforts within <br />assigned area, assuring that citywide needs and efforts are fluid and consistent. <br />Coordinate monthly events with other sector leaders and city staff, including identifying project needs, approving <br />schedule with Parks Superintendent, determining and communicating needs to potential volunteers, etc. <br />Communicate with other agencies that may have an interest in or serve as a resource for the project/program, i.e. <br />Master Naturalists. <br />Potentially serve as a spokesperson for the program, i.e.; presenting to the Roseville Parks and Recreation <br />Commission, potential recruitment audiences such as faith communities, etc. <br />Present new ideas and potential opportunities to advance the Natural Resource Program to Parks Superintendent <br />for consideration and possible implementation. <br />Serve as ambassador for the program, encouraging and welcoming participation and educating others about the <br />work being done and its environmental impact. <br />Welcome and lead volunteers at volunteer work events, following City of Roseville established protocol and safety <br />standards. <br />Partner with other volunteers and City staff to identify and fill additional volunteer roles and needs. <br />Maintain ongoing communication with Parks Superintendent and Constellation Captains in assigned sector. <br /> <br />
