Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission Minutes <br />October 17, 2018 – Draft Minutes <br />Page 3of 13 <br />92 <br />93 CommissionerPeterson moved and Commissioner Bolinger seconded a motion to approve the <br />94 September 29, 2018 Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission meeting minutes as <br />95 presented. Motion passed unanimously. <br />96 <br />97 Receive Reports <br />98 Assistant City Manager Olson updated on the Commission on the Bus Circulator discussion at <br />99 the City Council meeting. <br />100 <br />101 Ms. Olson stated the Roseville City Council agreed to fund the extension of the circulator bus <br />102 service with the adjust route serving SE Roseville for another six months. The current route will <br />103 continue operating until staff has time to market and do outreach in regard to the new route. <br />104 Staff is hoping to have the new route start up by January 1, 2019, which is when the six-month <br />105 extension with the new route will begin. The working group will be meeting in the near future to <br />106 work on getting the word out by distributing fliers and using the City networks to share the <br />107 information. Staff also wants to connect to organizations that serve the population in SE <br />108 Roseville to help get the word out. <br />109 <br />110 Ms. Olson reported to the Commission that the Snow Plowing item will be going to the Council <br />nd <br />111 on Monday, October 22. The GARE team put together a report on the process used. She <br />112 encouraged each of the Commission members to read the report to better understand the <br />113 engagement of this particular policy issue. <br />114 <br />115 Youth Commissioner Report <br />th <br />116 Youth Commissioner Hansel reported the Human Rights Club started on September 25and <br />117 there are a lot of new members. She noted the Human Rights Club has currently partnered with <br />118 Social Studies Department to run the mock election within the school. <br />119 <br />120 Chair Beltmann asked ifthere was any encouragement for high school kids, age eighteen or older <br />121 to leave school to vote for primaries or is there any encouragement to go out and vote. <br />122 <br />123 Youth Commissioner Hansel stated that is what part of the mock election is trying to do. It is <br />124 getting students comfortable with the voting process and learning. She noted a lot of social <br />125 studies teachers are doing presentations on the voting process. She was not sure if there was <br />126 encouragement to go out that day to vote, if eighteen, but she thought the school indicated the <br />127 students would be excused for voting on election day. <br />128 <br />129 Youth Commissioner Iverson stated there have been students that come in at lunch registering to <br />130 vote, if eighteen. <br />131 <br />132 New Business <br />133 <br />134 a.
