Proclamation Discussion <br />138 Assistant City Manager Olson noted she tentatively scheduled the proclamations to <br />th <br />139 go the City Council for review at the November 26 Council meeting as a package. <br />140 <br />141 MLK – Ms. Olson noted Commissioner Eck had this proclamation reviewed by <br />142 Marquita Stevens with Minneapolis Urban League. <br />143 <br />144 Human Trafficking –Commissioner Peterson indicated she met with Mr. Corey <br />145 Yunke of the Roseville Police Department to make sure this aligned with what the <br />146 Police Department is doing, and Mr.Yunke gave his stamp of approval from the <br />147 Police Department. <br />148 <br />149 Commissioner Peterson stated the City of Roseville received ten thousand dollars in <br />150 funding from the Roseville Police Foundation to carry out collaborative efforts to <br />th <br />151 fight human trafficking in Roseville. The money was accepted October 8. The <br />152 Chief sent out his newsletter that highlighted the collaboration on fighting human <br />153 trafficking. She noted the Police Department does not have enough man power for <br />154 someone to always be working on this issue. The money received additionally is <br />155 used to staff overtime and initiatives. She reviewed some of the operations the Police <br />156 Department has been doing to address human trafficking in Roseville. <br />157 <br />158 Commissioner Peterson stated Mr. Yunke seemed interested in potentially <br />159 collaborating with the Commission on a highlighted proclamation. <br />160 <br />161 Black History Month – Ms. Olson noted Commissioner Eck made some <br />162 amendments andhad this proclamation reviewed by Marquita Stevenswith <br />163 Minneapolis Urban League. <br />164 <br />165 Ms. Olson stated Ms. Stevens had some amendments to this proclamation. She <br />166 indicated under the fifth whereas the sentence should include “and inventions” before <br />167 the words “are often overlooked”. She stated the next paragraph has a long <br />168 amendment and indicated she would put this in writing for the Commission. The <br />169 final paragraph the word “via” should be stricken. <br />170 <br />171 Commissioner Manke noted in reference to Abraham Lincoln, it is regarding the <br />172 destination, “to the memorial of Abraham Lincoln”, not that it is sighting him. <br />173 <br />174 Chair Beltmann thought Ms. Stevens was making some very good points. She <br />175 thought it was important to give recognition to those who actually led the march. Her <br />176 recommendation would be to accept the amendments that were proposed. <br />177 <br />178 The Commission agreed. <br />179 <br />180 Women’s History - was previously approved. <br />181 <br /> <br />
