Regular City Council Meeting Monday, December 3,2018 Page 20 Mayor Roe offered an opportunity for public comment. Public Comment Mr. Bob Murphy, speaking as Chair of the Planning Commission, recommended sending the packet forward to the Metropolitan Council for their consideration. He stated over the last twenty months,members of the Planning Commission have met with the City Council and staff and have composed, reviewed, and edit- ed many versions of the report. This was a significant undertaking but very re- warding. He would like to commend the Commission for the careful considera- tion taken around the issue in Chapter four regarding land use, Chapter five on housing, and significant dialogue on Chapter seven with transportation. While the plan before the Council is not permit, he believed it is what the Council asked the Planning Commission to set out to do for a significant update to 2030 considering . the times and he thought the Planning Commission delivered on that. Mr. Murphy thanked Senior Planner Lloyd who served many roles during this process. One was educator, a recorder of thought and an editor of said thoughts along with being so detail oriented. Councilmember McGehee thanked the Planning Commission and indicated there was a lot of hard work done on that Commission. Councilmember Willmus echoed Councilmember McGehee's comments. McGehee moved, Willmus seconded, authorizing staff to submit the 2040 Com- prehensive Plan to the Metropolitan Council. Roll Call Ayes: McGehee, Willmus, Laliberte, Etten, and Roe. Nays: None. k. Consider Adoption of 2019 City Council and Economic Development Au- thority Calendar City Manager Patrick Trudgeon briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the RCA and related attachments dated December 3, 2018.
