Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,January 7, 2019
Page 23
Mayor Roe stated one thing he wanted to suggest in terms of Liaison that given
that the Legislative agenda for this year and also given Councilmember Laliber-
te's knowledge and experience in the Legislature, it would be excellent if the
Council designated Councilmember Laliberte as Council Representative related to
the Legislature agenda going forward and working with staff on strategies.
The Council was in agreement with Councilmember Laliberte being Council Rep-
resentative to Legislative work.
Mr. Trudgeon noted he serves as liaison on the League of Minnesota Cities Policy
Committees and Metro Cities Policy Committees and he encouraged the members
of the Council to participate.
h. Discuss Setting City Goals and Priorities
City Manager Trudgeon briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the RCA and
related attachments dated January 7, 2019.
Councilmember Etten stated he would be interested in revising the current docu-
ment and adding some updates to progress made. He was not interested in having
any goal setting afternoons because it did not do much good the last time this was
done. He would look more to refine and revise, add or subtract from the current
document.
Councilmember Laliberte agreed and thought the document does need an update,
noting it has kept the Council on task. She did not think this needed an exhaus-
tive,multi-day process to do that. She thought it could be accomplished in a work
session.
Councilmember Willmus stated he was going to suggest working on this at a
work session with a fairly significant amount of time allotted to this.
Councilmember Groff agreed.
8. Approve Minutes
Comments and corrections to draft minutes had been submitted by the City Council prior
to tonight's meeting and those revisions were incorporated into the draft presented in the
Council packet.
a. Approve November 26, 2018 City Council Meeting Minutes
Willmus moved, Etten seconded, approval of the November 26, 2018 City Coun-
cil Meeting Minutes as presented.
Mayor Roe thought all of the minutes could be made with one motion including
the small correction he made to the December 3, 2018 minutes.
