Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, February 11, 2019
Page 20
Councilmember Etten stated he would like to see some items move off this list and
thought having a deadline makes this happen.
Mayor Roe appreciated staff keeping these items before the Council. He stated the rental
housing discussion is a very broad name for that and he wondered if that was specific to
the"just cause" eviction regulations.
Mr. Trudgeon indicated it was and would include a note regarding that.
Mayor Roe wondered if the discussion on temporary emergency shelter was a discussion
about the zoning or the fees for those two applicants.
Mr. Trudgeon stated at this point, it is for the zoning part of it. There are some options
where things to be considered as a part of that and once that is sorted out then staff can
talk about the fee with the Council.
Mayor Roe stated the concern with that item and the goals item being on the same agenda
is both might be lengthy and longer than allows the Council adequate time to address the
City Council's goal discussion. He was also a little concerned about the repeat nuisance
item but understood the Council's priority to get that back before them. He also under-
stood that staff did not want the emergency shelter item to keep getting pushed further
out but he also does not want the goals discussion to be short changed so he asked staff to
see if some items could be moved around.
Councilmember Etten stated he would be supportive of that. The Council has asked to
have those discussions around the goals and if time is not allowed and is short changed or
something else gets bumped off, and people are at the meeting for something that is im-
portant to them, there are some items on the agenda that could draw several people from
the community.
Mr. Trudgeon stated he would be open to any suggestions to move around items.
Mayor Roe stated he was not sure how long the GARE or proclamations update might be
but suggested the March 18th meeting might be where a couple of the items from the 25th
could be moved to. He thought the shelter and one of the other smaller items could be
moved.
Councilmember Willmus thought the cash carryforward discussion could be moved to
March 18th
Councilmember Laliberte stated the Ramsey County League of Local Government event
related to Legislative parties was cancelled due to the weather on February 7th and will be
combined with their Legislative event on March 14th at the OVAL.
