1 ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
2 MEETING MINUTES FOR
3 February 5, 2019 6:30 p.m.
4
5 PRESENT:Baggenstoss, Gelbach,Heikkila,Hoag, Newby,O’Brien,Quick
6 Stoner, Warzecha
7 ABSENT: Bole
8 STAFF: Brokke, Christensen
9
10 1) INTRODUCTIONS
11
12 2) ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT
13 Chair O’Brien noted that Commissioner Bole would not be in attendance at the meeting.
14
15 3) APPROVAL OF MINUTES – JANUARY 3, 2019 MEETING
16 Commissioner Gelbach moved to approve the January 3, 2019 meeting minutes. Vice-Chair
17 Baggenstoss seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
18
19 4) PARK DEDICATION – HAND IN HAND CHRISTIAN MONTESSORI SCHOOL
20 (211 MCCARRON’S BLVD. NORTH)
21 Hand In Hand Christian Montessori School has proposed a five-lot subdivision at 211
22 McCarron’s Blvd. North for a school and a four low density residential properties. The
23 project qualifies for Park Dedication. The cash total would be $16,000 ($4,000 each
24 additional lot) or .95 acres of park land (10% of 9.54 acres).
25
26 Chair O’Brien acknowledged that a member of the public made a suggestion to negotiate a
27 shared ballfield in lieu of Park Dedication. The Commission discussed this proposed option
28 and noted that others may have an issue with giving someone an alternative option for Park
29 Dedication as cash or land have historically been the requirements to satisfy Park Dedication.
30
31 Chair O’Brien mentioned that the southwest quadrant of the city already has heavily
32 developed park land and questioned if it made sense to add another park to this area.
33
34 Commissioner Warzecha asked if there is a need for ballfields in the city. Staff responded
35 that currently there is not a need for the size of ballfields that would fit on this property’s
36 green space.
37
38 The Commission discussed the potential options for Park Dedication at 211 McCarron’s
39 Blvd. North.
40
4
