SAINT PAUL AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE <br /> WORKSTREAM <br /> About the Rice and Larpenteur Alliance <br /> • In early 2019,the cities again pooled resources (including an grant from ULI) to solicit bids for project <br /> management services to implement the Vision Plan and continue to convene,promote and fundraise for <br /> improvements. <br /> • In March 2019,the municipal partners selected SPACC to assist with the implementation of Rice and <br /> Larpenteur Gateway Area Vision Plan. <br /> • SPACC has hired Kim O'Brien,former Legislative Aide to Saint Paul Councilmember Brendmoen,to serve as <br /> Executive Director to the Alliance. <br /> • Funding has been committed for one year,with intent to continue for year two. <br /> • Deliverables for the first year include: <br /> o Create a neighborhood brand,website,and communications plan. <br /> o Plan regular community events. <br /> o Create a strategic fundraising plan. <br /> o Implement visible,low-cost improvements identified in the Vision. <br /> o Create a community-driven,long-term Alliance to carry initiative forward. <br /> • Ongoing deliverables include: <br /> o Developing a sense of community and place that defies municipal boundaries. <br /> o Attract developers to identified opportunity sites for the creation of new housing and <br /> neighborhood-scale businesses and jobs. <br /> o Ensure redevelopment and infrastructure improvement projects are compatible with the <br /> community-generated Vision Plan. <br /> About SPACC <br /> • With more than 1,200 members,the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce (SPACC) is the region's premier <br /> commerce organization harnessing the collective strength of employers to drive economic prosperity to the <br /> broadest reaches of our community. <br /> o Vision:The East Metro works—for all of us. <br /> • SPACC's Mission is: Changing our economic future-one job at a time. <br /> o We are a convener and coalition-builder for our region's most critical issues. <br /> o We integrate the growth of jobs and tax base with the broader priorities of livability:workforce, <br /> education,transportation,and culture. <br /> o We translate thinking into action through powerful advocacy,partnerships,and programming. <br /> o We promote economic growth,working towards goals that we can't accomplish alone. <br /> More information can be found at www.saintpaulchamber.com. <br /> About WorkStream <br /> • WorkStream is a new division of the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce providing professional services <br /> in support of business and community collaborations,including Chambers of Commerce, Business <br /> Associations and Community Initiatives. <br /> 2 <br />
