Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission Minutes <br />March 20, 2019 –Draft Minutes <br />Page 2of 18 <br />45 City Manager Trudgeon stated on Monday night Assistant City Manager Olson presented to the <br />46 City Council an update on the GARE Project and he thought that would be a good discussion for <br />47 the Commission. He suggested the item be added to theApril meeting. <br />48 <br />49 Youth Commissioner Report <br />50 Youth Commissioner Hanselreportedshe was working with the League of Women Voters to <br />51 increase voter registration among high school students in under represented communities at the <br />52 high school. <br />53 <br />54 Youth Commissioner Iverson stated he was waiting for the high school center book read to start <br />55 up in June. <br />56 <br />57 Commissioner Peterson asked if any books were picked out yet. <br />58 <br />59 Youth Commissioner Iverson stated the books have not been decided yet. <br />60 <br />61 Commissioner Peterson asked ifthere were any potential Youth Commissioners that would be <br />62 interested. <br />63 <br />64 Youth Commissioner Hansel stated she will make an announcement at the City Council and <br />65 Human Rights Club at the high school. <br />66 <br />67 Chair Beltmann asked how the Youth Commissioners have been selected in the past. <br />68 <br />69 Commissioner Peterson thought something was sent to the teachers at the high school. <br />70 <br />71 Youth Commissioner Hansel thought the Commission should reach out to the Essay winners <br />72 because that is how she got on and a lot of the past commissioners got on the HRIEC. <br />73 <br />74 New Business <br />75 <br />76 a.Proclamation Discussion <br />77 City Manager Trudgeonprovided a recapof past proclamation discussion. <br />78 <br />79 Chair Beltmann asked if any of the Commissioner for Proclamations 7-14 made any <br />80 headway for edits or changes based onCouncil’s feedback. <br />81 <br />82 Commissioner Macomber stated this was the first time she realized she had a <br />83 proclamation in the packet,and she could see there was some language in the packet <br />84 that she did not add. <br />85 <br />86 Chair Beltmann thought Commissioner Macomber was assigned for the display case <br />87 and not for the revising. <br />88 <br />89 Commissioner Peterson indicated most of the work has been on it. <br /> <br />
