Roseville Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission Agenda Item April 17, 2019 ITEM: 7 ITEM DESCRIPTION:Parade Planning and Party in the Park Background The 2019 Rosefest Parade takes place on Monday, June 24Over the past several months, the commission has discussed ways to better engage and represent the variety of cultures in the City during this event. At the March meeting, the City Manager offered his spot in the parade for the Commission to use as part of their effort to highlight more diversity in the City. In addition, at the April 8 City Council meeting, the Chair updated the City Council with the Commission City Managers spot to invite members and organizations representing the LGBTQIA+ recently reviewed the Commissions proclamations, including the LGBTQI+ proclamation for historically has been shared among all commissions to highlight the volunteer work of commissioners. In the past, the Commission has also participated in Party in the Park. Party in the Park is part of the larger Rosefest event. It takes place on July 4 and includes music and entertainment, food vendors, carnival activities and other family fun prior to culminating with fireworks that evening. The event is well attended by many people outside of Roseville as well as residents. Last year, the commission solicited recipes for a community recipe book at Party in the Park. The year prior, the commission had information regarding the city asked residents for feedback. Attached are the notes from last years event.
