Roseville Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement <br />Commission <br />Agenda Item <br />April 17, 2019 ITEM: 7 <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION:Parade Planning and Party in the Park <br />Background <br />The 2019 Rosefest Parade takes place on Monday, June 24Over the past several <br />months, the commission has discussed ways to better engage and represent the variety of <br />cultures in the City during this event. <br />At the March meeting, the City Manager offered his spot in the parade for the Commission to <br />use as part of their effort to highlight more diversity in the City. In addition, at the April 8 City <br />Council meeting, the Chair updated the City Council with the Commission <br />City Managers spot to invite members and organizations representing the LGBTQIA+ <br />recently reviewed the Commissions proclamations, including the LGBTQI+ proclamation for <br />historically has been shared among all commissions to highlight the volunteer work of <br />commissioners. <br />In the past, the Commission has also participated in Party in the Park. Party in the Park is part of <br />the larger Rosefest event. It takes place on July 4 and includes music and entertainment, food <br />vendors, carnival activities and other family fun prior to culminating with fireworks that <br />evening. The event is well attended by many people outside of Roseville as well as residents. <br />Last year, the commission solicited recipes for a community recipe book at Party in the Park. <br />The year prior, the commission had information regarding the city <br />asked residents for feedback.
