She stated her church, St. Odiliahas the largest Spanish congregation in the <br />270 whole State,and she has been in touch with the priest regarding having an event <br />271 there, which the church is very open to. <br />272 <br />273 Chair Beltmann wondered if the City could do a community meal because that is very <br />274 family oriented as well. She indicated she would be happy to help with that. <br />275 <br />276 Commission Bolinger stated in January she talked to the Chief of Police and learned <br />277 that the City of Roseville does not actually work with ICE or turn people in which is <br />278 an important message that the community needs to know so people feel safe in the <br />279 City. <br />280 <br />281 b.Engagement Project Discussion <br />282 Chair Beltmannreviewed the information that was presented to the City Council <br />283 outlining the two-pronged approach the Commission is seeking to take to assist the <br />284 City with engagement and outreach. She noted at the December meeting the <br />285 Commission discussed next steps for the Engagement Project. She stated the focus <br />286 on discussion at the meeting will be on the goal/aim of the outreach piece. This is <br />287 intended to give a greater definition of why the Commission is seeking to further <br />288 engage historically underrepresented communities and how this will help the City and <br />289 ultimately help the community. <br />290 <br />291 Mr. Trudgeon stated in the last year and a half the City has been working on <br />292 becoming more aware and equipped to talk about equity and the importance of that <br />293 going through the Government Alliance onRace and Equity (GARE). He noted the <br />294 training has been completed with fourteen employees in the organization and have <br />295 really worked hard to come up with a Racial Equity Plan. <br />296 <br />297 Mr. Trudgeon stated one of the main goals is to make sure everyone feels welcome <br />298 and included in the community. Building off of that from the City’s perspective, that <br />299 helps to answer the WHY question. As part of the City Council’s Policy Priority Plan <br />300 that includes the Inclusive Community and Governance and a big part of that is <br />301 GARE but also about the engagement. <br />302 <br />303 Mr. Trudgeon reviewed the GARE document with the Commission. <br />304 <br />305 Chair Beltmann thought for discussion the focus should be on the Commission’s <br />306 work that has been outlined and what is the goal behind what the Commission is <br />307 wanting to do and what next steps does the Commission want to consider and then <br />308 how does it relate back to what the City is already doing. <br />309 <br />310 Chair Beltmann thought the reasons that are outlined in the information Ms. Olson <br />311 provided are the goals of the work the Commission is doing.
