6) RECREATION REVIEW INCLUDING SUMMER PROGRAM & ROSEFEST <br />Recreation Superintendent Lauren Deal provided an update on the recreation team and their <br />offerings.The Recreation Team consists of: <br /> 7 Professional Staff <br />2 Customer Service Members <br />50+ Summer Seasonal Staff <br /> 40+ Year Round Instructors/Facility Staff <br />The Roseville Parks and Recreation Team offers the following throughout the year: <br /> Fee and Non-fee Special Events <br /> Recreational Facilities – Rental Options and Program Locations <br />Youth Programs <br /> Adult Leagues <br /> Older Adult Wellness <br /> <br />In the summer Roseville Parks and Recreation partners with summer associations to offer <br />athletic programs. This provides a nice complement to the Parks and Recreation programs as <br />the associationsoffer more competitive options. <br />Recreation Supervisor Gina Robinette highlighted the summer programs that are offered <br />through Roseville Parks and Recreation, including: <br /> Over 50 options for summer youth sports(over 585 participants) <br /> Youth Arts, Theatre and Enrichment programs <br /> Half day and full day camps (June-Aug) <br /> Leaders in Training (LIT) for 12-16 year olds offering leadership volunteering <br /> Youth outreach program REC Connect. This program is hosted out of Tamarack Park <br />and Unity Park and provides a recreation opportunity to youth who may have <br />financial or transportation barriers <br /> Discover Your Parks (DYP) is a party in the park rotating between different parks <br />each Wednesday. The schedule is on-line and in the Parks and Recreation brochure <br /> The Roseville Puppet Wagon is offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings <br />at various parks throughout the city <br /> <br />The Rosefest Parade will kick off Rosefest this year on Monday, June 24. A new Rosefest <br />event will be “Walk your dog with King Boreas” thatis scheduled for June 25. Rosefest will <br />th <br />wrap up on July 4 with the Party in the Park and Fireworks in Central Park. <br />Commissioner Heikkila asked how the new 3 year old soccer program began. Staff noted that <br />it was a specific community request. <br />2 <br /> <br />
