Roseville Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement <br />Commission <br />Agenda Item <br />DATE:May 15, 2019ITEM:8B. <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION:Parade Planning <br />Background <br />The Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission discussed participation in the <br />Rosefest Parade for 2019 at their April meeting. It was decided that there will be two parade <br />entries: <br />1.City Commissions <br />2.PRIDE Group (to highlight June as LGBTQIA+ month) <br />Vice Chair Peterson indicated that she would be attending each of the citys commission <br />meetings during the month of May to coordinate participation while Commissioner Iverson <br />agreed to work with a student group Vice Chair Peterson indicated that she would be attending <br />each of the citys commission meetings during the month of May to coordinate participation <br />while Commissioner Iverson agreed to work with a student group on the design for t-shirts and <br />signs. In addition, the commission should further discuss the participation for the PRIDE group, <br />and any other outreach that may be needed. <br />The city does have individual signs for each commission along with a large sign that would need <br />to be carried by two people. Other details that will need to be worked out include: <br />Narrative for each of the parade units. This is the information that is read as the unit <br />passes the judges. It gives a description of the unit. <br />Sign up for Commission unit.Asign up sheet should be created and shared with a <br />deadline to know who will be participating. <br />Tshirts. A design should be finalized and participating commissioners should include <br />their size preference when they sign up for the unit. <br />Candy.The city provides candy for the commissioners unit, but in the past, there has <br />been discussion on bringing a wagon or something to haul the candy along the route. <br /> <br />
