Attachment C
Item 8A
C-Identify leaders in the said groups/communities as point people.
D-To keep leaders and community members engaged, identify programs that are
culturally relevant to the said groups/communities.
E.g.:+ Pride March during the Rosefest parade cannot be successfully accomplished
without outreach to the LGBTQ community.
+ Diversity groups marching in parade is an intentional way to actively involve
groups that dont usually participate in the parade; yet they are members of the
community. It is a way to display the diversity in the city.
+ Activities linked to Proclamations: a good example of bottom up governance:
Human trafficking, Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, Indigenous Peoples
Day, LGTBQ+, American with disabilities, etc
E-Project Specific Outreach.
Point people identified in said group will be the initial contact to reach the broader
community for input/opinion. One example of failure in this process is the circulator bus
service where SE Roseville was left out of the initial route because of difficulties hearing
from the community in SE Roseville.
F-Who does the engaging?
-City staff
-HRIEC: Council to be clear on what the HRIECs role is. Is it okay for HRIEC to do
some engaging or is the HRIEC only able to provide recommendations?
-Other volunteers
-Suggestion: combination of staff and HRIEC: Good example Human Trafficking
Proclamation activity with collaboration between Commissioner Peterson and Corey
Yunke from the PD.
