Excerpt from November 2017 meeting minutes
Attachment D
Member Seigler asked if the City had any concerns with trains loaded with fuel was
a concern for the City.
Mr. Freihammer explained these trains ran along Rice Street into St. Paul and
through New Brighton. He described how these trains had become silent and no
longer had to whistle at each intersection which had reduced the number of
complaints in the City. He described the number of freight trains coming in and
out of the City on a weekly basis.
Mr. Freihammer requested the Commission make a motion to approve the proposed
2018 Work Plan.
Motion
Member Trainor moved, Member Seigler seconded, to recommend approval
of the proposed 2018 Work Plan.
Ayes: 4
Nays: 0
Motion carried.
8. Items for Next Meeting
Discussion ensued regarding the January PWETC agenda:
• Facilities Study Presentation — Mr. Culver commented this study should be
available and will be presented to the Commission.
• Eureka Presentation — Mr. Culver noted Eureka would be providing the
Commission with their Annual Report.
• Update on Organics Recycling — Mr. Culver reported the Commission would
be receiving an update on organics recycling from Eureka.
Chair Cihacek asked if organics recycling was available within City of Roseville
buildings.
Mr. Culver reported this was not available in City buildings.
Chair Cihacek suggested this option be explored for City Hall and Public Works
staff. He anticipated there was room for another dumpster to allow for organics
recycling.
Mr. Culver stated the Commission could address this further in January. He
discussed how short parking was on the Roseville campus and feared how another
dumpster would impact this situation. He explained City Hall just currently was not
set up for that. He anticipated this situation would change in 2019.
Chair Cihacek recommended organics recycling be considered internally at City
Hall and what steps would need to be taken to implement this type of recycling on
the entire campus.
