Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,June 17, 2019
Page 6
mall could be done in three days during the day that would be preferable. She
understood this strip mall needed to be improved.
Mr. Rowland Sutherland
Mr. Sutherland beseeched the Council to deny the request. He hoped the Council
would take the advice of Mr. Englund. He did not think this was necessary. He
thought the letter the residents received was to work until midnight and now it has
been pushed to 1:00-2:00 a.m. He hoped the Council agreed with the residents
and thought the construction company could do some of the work on July 4th.
Mr. Josh Bickler, 1767 Lindy Avenue
Mr. Bickler indicated he can see both sides because he does construction himself
and can understand how construction companies get into these tight spots. He in-
dicated he patronizes most of these businesses as well. He thought there could be
some sort of compromise and understands the businesses do not want to lose any
business. He wondered if the construction could end at 11:00 p.m. and start at
5:30-6:00 a.m. He understood the businesses are losing some revenue but would
be ideal to work out some kind of compromise.
Mr. Daryl Brown, 3051 W. Owasso Blvd
Mr. Brown thought hearing the various arguments, there is room for compromise.
If the City is going to allow the construction company to do some of the work af-
ter hours, he thought there could be some limitations on what could and could not
be done. Dumping concrete in a truck, is noisy and very disturbing and to him,
that could be done during the day. He thought activities at night should be re-
stricted to quieter things.
With no one else appearing to speak, Mayor Roe closed the public hearing at ap-
proximately 7:30 p.m.
Councilmember Laliberte was surprised by the fact that the City has not received
any communication from the tenants.
Mr. Englund indicated the City only received the one letter from the resident.
Mayor Roe noted for clarification, hours where a person needed to get a variance
to do the noise is from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and 9:00 a.m. on
weekends.
Mr. Englund agreed.
Mayor Roe clarified the idea with the two-week period is that the construction
company would still try to do it within two or three days but were not sure about
the weather and when it could get started and done.
