Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,August 12, 2019
Page 11
Councilmember Etten thought this event would be at the top of the budget and
wondered if there was any discussion on how it would all get paid for.
Mayor Roe thought in regard to the food trucks, that people would pay for their
own food. He noted there was a fairly substantial general fund reserve for the city
and because this is not expected to cost thousands of dollars he would be willing
to spend some money from the general fund reserve for this.
Councilmember Etten asked what time the event would start.
Commissioner Djevi noted the proposed start time is 5:00 p.m.
Mayor Roe thought the event would probably be wrapping up around sunset.
Councilmember Willmus agreed with all that was previously said and thought
Option 2 would be the best option.
Councilmember Laliberte wondered if a movie could be shown after the band
played.
Mayor Roe indicated having both would increase the costs of the event. He
thought Central Park was the better venue whether it be a band or a movie that is
shown.
Ms. Olson thought a decision on the event would be beneficial so the Commission
could continue discussion to move forward. Making sure of logistics, sign con-
tracts, and book dates.
Mayor Roe indicated he was thinking of giving the Commission the option of
whatever makes the most sense without having to come back to the Council.
Councilmember Etten thought a live band in Central Park from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00
p.m. would be best along with food trucks.
Etten moved, Groff seconded, directing staff to pursue Option 1.
Council Discussion
Councilmember Groff thought the park was a much more celebratory area and
would work better for a band.
Councilmember Willmus agreed that Central Park is a better venue.
Councilmember Laliberte indicated she is supportive of this.
