All came out to
community build days at the site.

The project was managed in-house, with the help of Public Works and Parks and Recreation employees self-
performing reasonable projects and utilizing a community build approach. This approach had not been done
before but would enable citizens to get involved and allow the city to maximize resources. The park was built for
less than $250,000, including final plans. Private contractors were used as needed.

A fully invested community collaboration provided the foundation, leadership, expertise & support for Unity Park.
Foundation of community leaders, residents & volunteers
o City Council, Parks & Recreation Commission, Ramsey County, Roseville Area School District
o Community members to plan the park and work together to build the park and plantings
o Community at-Large: Nearly 400 community members participated in 6 community engagement
sessions
Leadership from City Council and City Manager, Roseville Parks & Recreation Commission/Staff,
Administration Department, Community and Economic Development Department, Roseville Area School
District, Ramsey County and Roseville residents.
o Parks & Recreation Commissioners and staff served in a strong listening capacity throughout the
process
o City departments and leaders all came together to champion the process & project

Support from City of Roseville Colleagues
o Public Works, Finance, Administration & Community Development professionals shared
resources, expertise & efficiencies.

Over the last 3 years the Karen Interagency Work Group and a recreation programming sub-group identified the
need for direct play space at the apartments so youngsters would not need to play in the streets.
