1 ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />2 MEETING MINUTES FOR <br />3 AUGUST 1, 2019 6:30 p.m. <br />4 <br />5 PRESENT:Arneson, Baggenstoss, Brown, Hoag, Newby, O’Brien, Stoner <br />6 ABSENT: Dahlstrom, Heikkila, Quick <br />7 STAFF: Brokke, Christensen <br />8 <br />9 1) INTRODUCTIONS <br />10 <br />11 2) ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />12 <br />13 3) APPROVAL OF MINUTES – JUNE 4, 2019 MEETING <br />14 Vice-Chair Hoag moved to approve the June 4, 2019 meeting minutes. CommissionerNewby <br />15 seconded. Motion passed unanimously. <br />16 <br />17 4) HUMAN RIGHTS, INCLUSION AND ENGAGEMENT COMMISSION EVENT <br />18 COMMUNICATIONS <br />19 Representatives from the Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission (HRIEC) <br />20 presented two proclamations that they introduced to the City Council (January – Human <br />21 Trafficking Awareness Month, September – Hispanic Awareness Month). <br />22 <br />23 In celebration and recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month the HRIEC is working to organize <br />24 a potential one day event possibly on October 5, 2019. The event may include Hispanic <br />25 music, food trucks and a viewing of the movie Coco. Potential locations that have been <br />26 discussed are Central Park or the Guidant John Rose MN OVAL (OVAL). The final date will <br />27 be based on location availability and logistics. <br />28 <br />29 Commissioner Stoner asked if they have any idea of how many people would be attending. <br />30 HRIEC Commissioner Djevi stated that it could potentially be 150-200 people. However, <br />31 that is just an estimate as they have not started advertising the event. <br />32 <br />33 The group discussed locations, neighborhood notifications for sound, food truck options and <br />34 the limited time before the October 5 target date. <br />35 <br />36 Chair Baggenstoss applauded the HRIEC’s effort to have the event at Central Park as it may <br />37 be more transferrable to other parks in the future. <br />38 <br />39 HRIEC Commissioner Djevi asked if it was feasible to have the event at Central Park based <br />40 on the time restrains.
