<br /> ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES FOR <br />AUGUST 1, 2019 6:30 p.m. <br />PRESENT:Arneson, Baggenstoss, Brown, Hoag,Newby, O’Brien,Stoner <br />ABSENT:Dahlstrom, Heikkila, Quick <br />STAFF: Brokke, Christensen <br /> <br />1) INTRODUCTIONS <br /> <br />2) ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> <br />3) APPROVAL OF MINUTES – JUNE 4, 2019 MEETING <br />Vice-Chair Hoag moved to approve the June 4, 2019 meeting minutes. Commissioner Newby <br />seconded. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4) HUMAN RIGHTS, INCLUSION AND ENGAGEMENT COMMISSION EVENT <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Representatives from the Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission (HRIEC) <br />presented two proclamations that they introduced to the City Council (January – Human <br />Trafficking Awareness Month, September – Hispanic Awareness Month). <br /> <br />In celebration and recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month the HRIEC is working to organize <br />a potential one day eventpossibly on October 5, 2019.The event may include Hispanic <br />music, food trucks and a viewing of the movie Coco. Potential locations that have been <br />discussed are Central Park or the Guidant John Rose MN OVAL (OVAL). The final date will <br />be based on location availability and logistics. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stoner asked if they haveanyideaofhow many people would be attending. <br />HRIEC Commissioner Djevi stated that it could potentially be 150-200 people. However, <br />that is just an estimate as they have not started advertising the event. <br />The group discussed locations, neighborhood notifications for sound, food truck options and <br />the limited time before the October 5 target date. <br /> <br />Chair Baggenstoss applauded the HRIEC’s effort to have the event at Central Park as it may <br />be more transferrableto other parks in the future. <br /> <br />HRIEC Commissioner Djevi asked if it was feasible to have the event at Central Park based <br />on the time restrains.
