REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: October 07, 2019 Item No.: 9.g Department Approval City Manager Approval Item Description: Accept General Donations to the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation 1 B ACKGROUND 2 Over the years the City of Roseville has received many donations from citizens and program participants. 3 These gifts have been in the form of both materials and monies. When staff is notified of a potential 4 donation, they first make a determination of whether to recommend acceptance based on the suitability of 5 the item for the city. An acceptance request is then forwarded to the City Council. 6 7 A list of recent donationsto Parks and Recreation islisted below to be accepted and recognized. A total 8 value to the city of $72,738.33. 9 P OLICY O BJECTIVE 10 The following is the City of Roseville's policy regarding the acceptance of donations: 11 Minnesota Statute requires all donations to be officially accepted by the City Council. 12 The staff will not solicit donations. 13 Donors will be informed that no conditions or promises of future favorable city action on their behalf 14 may be attached to the gift. 15 B UDGET I MPLICATIONS 16 Approved donations for budgeted items may result in a budget reduction and an improved status of 17 Roseville Parks and Recreation. 18 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION 19 Staff recommends acceptance and recognition of these donations. 20 R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION 21 Motion authorizing acceptance and recognition of the following donations: 22 23 DONOR ITEM VALUE Nadine SchultzMonetary –Community Band $ 150.00 O'Halloran & Murphy Company Monetary –Arboretum Tree $ 100.00 CynthiaS.
