41 o 2017 <br />42 Revenue: $95,978 <br />43 Expenses: $128,858 <br />44 o 2018 <br />45 Revenue: $91,048 <br />46 Expenses: $125,075 <br />47 <br />48 Commissioner O’Brien asked if staff is aware of any growth opportunities at the park buildings. <br />49 Staff stated that the park buildings are consistently filled on the weekends and many evenings. <br />50 However, there are potential openings weekdays during the fall and winter. <br />51 <br />52 Chair Baggenstoss inquired if the park buildings are being rented for daytime school activities. Staff <br />53responded that the department does have relationships with local schools and that rentals are <br />54typically done at the Harriet Alexander Nature Center. Staff agreed that it would be a good idea to <br />55further explore potential park building rental options with local schools. <br />56 <br />57 Muriel Sahlin Arboretum information provided: <br />58 Recurring events – Rosefest and recreation <br />59 Private rentals in 2019 brought in nearly 2,500 guests to the Arboretum <br />60 <br />61 Vice-Chair Hoag asked if there is always an attendant on-site for each rental. Staff stated that <br />62 typically there is a staff person on-site. However, at peak times there may be a roving staff person. <br />63 <br />64 Commissioner Heikkila asked if there was a marketing plan to publicize the buildings for daytime <br />65 rentals with local businesses. Staff responded that they have sent out flyers to local businesses about <br />66 rental opportunities. Also, staff works with the Roseville Visitors Association (RVA) to publicize <br />67 the rental options in Roseville. <br />68 <br />69 Commissioner Stoner suggested creating a 1 page flyer specifically targeting businesses to help <br />70 market the daytime availability at the facilities. <br />71 <br />72 Harriet Alexander Nature Center information provided: <br />73 Capacity – 60 guests on each floor (banquet style) <br />74 Recurring rentals <br />75 Private rentals have limited availability during public hours <br />76 <br />77 Commissioner O’Brien remarked that she supports the decision to not close HANC for private <br />78 rentals during typical advertised open public hours. <br />79 <br />80 <br />2 <br /> <br />
