171 8) STAFF REPORT <br />172 a)OTHER NEW OR RELEVANT COMMUNICATION ITEMS <br />173 Staff shared a recent e-mail related to the deer reduction effort and commented that they <br />174 appreciate community input and questions on the Deer Reduction Program. The reduction <br />175 number rationale provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the <br />176 Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was reviewed again by the Commission. <br />177 Commissioner Brown noted that this is a learning process and that each year the reduction <br />178 amounts can be adjusted. Commissioner Baggenstoss reiterated that the Commission does <br />179 not take this program lightly and they don’t want to use their own assumptions over the <br />180 recommendations of the USDA and DNR. <br />181 Staff relayed that they presented to representatives of the Governor’s office on the MN <br />182 OVAL bonding plan. The presentation was well received. <br />183 On Wednesday, November 13 at 9:40 a.m. the House Capital Investment Committee will be <br />184 touring the Guidant John Rose MN OVAL. The tour will consist of 20 representatives and <br />185 staff members and is scheduled for 30 minutes. Staff will provide a brief summary of the <br />186 facility and plan for a walking tour <br />187 The Guidant John Rose MN OVAL opens on Friday, November 8 at 6:00pm. Roseville’s <br />188 own King Boreas, Monte Johnson will “flip the switch” to kick off the new season <br />189 The Cedarholm RFP inquiries have been very positive <br />190 Open Mic Night at the Cedarholm Community Building will be on November 21 (7:00 p.m.) <br />191 Representatives from FORParks recently toured local all-inclusive playgrounds to get a <br />192 better understanding of the scope of work and potential locations for the Roseville project <br />193 In 2019, the Central Park Foundation funded a project at the Victoria Ballfields to clean up <br />194 the apron around the shelter. The next project they have committed to islighting of the <br />195 pathways and the parking lot at the Arboretum. The lighting will be similar to what is around <br />196 Lake Bennett. This is anticipated to be a multi-year project with the parking lot being <br />197 completed in 2020. <br />198 <br />199 9)OTHER <br />200 Commissioner Heikkila commented that the new informational signs look good in the parks <br />201 Commissioner O’Brien moved to recommend Corbin Carlson as a Youth Commissioner on <br />202 the Parks and Recreation Commission to the City Council.
