1 ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />2 MEETING MINUTES FOR <br />3 November 7, 2019 6:30 p.m. <br />4 <br />5 PRESENT:Arneson, Baggenstoss, Brown, Dahlstrom, Heikkila, Hoag, O’Brien <br />6 ABSENT:Newby, Stoner <br />7 STAFF: Boggs, Brokke, Christensen, Taylor, <br />8 <br />9 <br />1) INTRODUCTIONS TO INCLUE YOUTH APPLICANT <br />10 The Commission welcomed Youth Commissioner applicant Corbin Carlson. <br />11 <br />12 2)ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />13 <br />14 3) APPROVAL OF MINUTES – OCTOBER 6, 2019 MEETING <br />15 Commissioner O’Brien moved to approve the October 6, 2019 meeting minutes. Commissioner <br />16 Dahlstrom seconded. Motion passed unanimously. <br />17 <br />18 4) NATURAL RESOURCES STEWARDSHIP AND VOLUNTEER REVIEW <br />19 Commissioner O’Brien introduced the Natural Resources Stewardship Program and provided a brief <br />20 history. <br />21 Staff members Jim Taylor, Park Superintendent and Rachel Boggs, Volunteer Coordinator were <br />22 available to provide a presentation of the program. The presentation goals were to cover a brief <br />23 overview of the volunteer program, provide a status report and offer information on how the <br />24 Commission and public can help. <br />25 <br />26 The following is the vision of the Natural Resources Program: volunteers, staff, and consultants <br />rd <br />27 working together to accomplish our goals. Initially, the vision was met with the every 3 Saturday <br />28 volunteer events. However, going forward only having a once a month event will not be enough to <br />29 keep up with the need. As a result, multiple types of Natural Resources Events have been introduced, <br />30 including: <br />31 <br />32 Staff/contractor led <br />33 Volunteer led <br />34 Informal <br />35 Arboretum Green Team <br />36 Adopt-a-Park volunteers <br />37 Community service volunteers <br />38 Eagle Scout projects <br />39 Informal – self-guided <br />40 <br />41 <br />42 <br />43 <br />1 <br />6 <br /> <br />
