Also, she would like the same paragraph to read “recognition of the need for more <br />18communication and structure as she has heard from several volunteer leaders that they were not sure <br />19of their overall role in the program”. Vice-Chair Hoag moved to approve the minutes with <br />20amendments. Commissioner Arneson seconded. Motion passed. Stoner abstained. <br />21 <br />224)RECREATION REVIEW –HARRIET ALEXANDER NATURE CENTER <br />23Recreation Supervisor Debbie Cash introduced herself to the Commission. She provided a brief <br />24overview of the Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANC) and her position as the lead naturalistat <br />25HANC.Cash also oversees 3-4 part-time/seasonal naturalists (<20 hours/week each) that assist her <br />26with programming and operations. In addition to paid staff, HANC is also supported by many <br />27volunteers who assistwithday to day tasks, special events and projects each year. In 2018, over 100 <br />28volunteers served nearly 2,000 hours at HANC in the following capacities: <br />29Reception Desk 1,150 hours <br />30Events 750 hours <br />31Projects 32 hours <br />32Animal Care 30 hours <br />33 <br />34To date, in 2019 there were approximately 16,000 visitors to HANC for the following events: <br />35Special Events 5,292 visitors <br />36Walk-ins 4,844 visitors <br />37Programs 3,519 visitors <br />38 3,034 visitors <br />Rentals <br />39 <br />40 <br />1 <br />3 <br /> <br />
