Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday, November 25, 2019 <br /> Page 18 <br /> lematic to them and it is budgeted to provide right around 50 hours a month of <br /> service to Falcon Heights. <br /> Mayor Roe asked in terms of training or some of those types of activities, did <br /> Chief O'Neill think some of that would piggyback or overlap with Roseville train- <br /> ing. <br /> Fire Chief O'Neill indicated that was correct and he would want Falcon Heights <br /> to be as independent as possible but would provide some training at their facility <br /> as a part of this and incorporate some of Roseville's into it as well. <br /> Councilmember Groff wondered how this worked with Falcon Heights contract <br /> with Lauderdale. <br /> Fire Chief O'Neill explained Falcon Heights is under contract to provide fire ser- <br /> vice for Lauderdale and has a yearly contract for those services which starts in <br /> January of each year and renews in June of every year. Roseville has had conver- <br /> sations with the Lauderdale City Administrator and reviewed the contract and <br /> what services would be provided. At this time, Lauderdale is satisfied with the <br /> level of service that will be provided and is taking a wait-and-see approach on <br /> how this will all be figured out. He thought it was unique to attempt to provide a <br /> service like this. <br /> Councilmember Laliberte asked if there is a way to track this and if the Council <br /> could have an update in six months, if approved. <br /> Mayor Roe offered an opportunity for public comment, with no one coming for- <br /> ward. <br /> Groff moved, Etten seconded, approving the Contract for Services between the <br /> City of Falcon Heights and the City of Roseville for Fire Department Administra- <br /> tive Services as outlined in the contract. <br /> Council Discussion <br /> Councilmember Groff thought it made sense and was a good move to share the <br /> expertise. <br /> Councilmember Etten indicated he exchanged emails with the Chief, and thought <br /> he had a good understanding of the work here. He thought looking for ways to <br /> work with neighboring communities is a smart thing. <br /> Councilmember Willmus indicated he was going to oppose the motion. He <br /> thought the path was a good one and he appreciated the initiative to get out there <br /> and look at it, but when looking at the compensation versus what it costs a com- <br />
