81 o Approximately 42 seasonal staff each summer <br />82 o Now hiring for summer 2020 seasonal staff <br />83 <br />84 Commissioner Newby asked what qualifications are needed for a coordinator versus other summer <br />85 staff. Staff responded that the coordinator position is typically someone who has schooling in child <br />86 development, is 18 years of age and is comfortable leading staff and driving city vehicles. <br />87 <br />88 Goals that Robinette has set for 2020 are to: <br />89 Evaluate Seasonal Staffing <br />90 o Competitive seasonal staff wages <br />91 o Variety of skill set opportunities <br />92 Staff training/meetings <br />93 Evaluations <br />94 o Hiring opportunities and practices <br />95 Expand Rec Connect <br />96 o June 23 – August 13 (added week) <br />97 o Grow daily participation <br />98 Evaluate Youth Sports offerings <br />99 o Create a more cohesive schedule for year round offerings <br />100 o Evaluate trends and where we match up with them <br />101 o Adjust scheduling for summer youth sports to better match the needs and requests of <br />102 the community <br />103 <br />104 The Commission discussed the changing demographics in the city and how that could change <br />105 recreation offerings. <br />106 <br />107 Vice-Chair Hoag mentioned that he was excited to see the puppet wagon is still a community <br />108 offering as he remembers it as a child growing up in Roseville. <br />109 <br />110 Youth Commissioner Kim asked about the type of marketing that is used to notify students of the <br />111 seasonal summer job openings. Staff responded that they work with the district to send out an e-mail <br />112 as well as attend the job fair. Kim suggested that italso might be a good idea to set up a table during <br />113 lunch time. <br />114 <br />115 The Commission discussed social media and its use in advertising programs/events and evaluating <br />116 potential needs. <br />117 <br />118 Chair Baggenstoss gave a “shout out” to the seasonal staff and the Rec Connect Program. <br />119 <br />3 <br />6 <br /> <br />
