Attachment A <br />CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />PUBLIC WORKS, ENVIRONMENTAND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION <br />SUSTAINABILITY SUPER MEETING RECAP <br />1. 2040 Comprehensive Plan (Draft) <br />a. Chapter 9: Resilience and Environmental Protection <br />i. Roseville has a history of environmental stewardship, with wetlands, ponds, trees, and <br />vegetative cover playing a key role in the physical, social, and economic development of the <br />city. Building upon past efforts and current initiatives — ranging from benchmarking energy <br />used within the City to leveraging university partnerships, to evaluate potential areas of <br />improvement — this chapter identifies strategic areas of focus to protect natural resources <br />and strengthen citywide resilience. <br />ii. Strive to source 100 percent of the electricity used for City operations from renewable <br />sources such as solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and wind by 2040, with a minimum of 25 <br />percent in on -site generation at City properties. <br />iii. Reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions by 80% by 2050. <br />b. Opportunities <br />i. Create a Climate Action Plan <br />ii. Expand production through additional Renewable Resources to meet the goals outlined in <br />Chapter 9 and Chapter 13: Implementation. <br />iii. Provide a building benchmark component to track usages and CO2 emissions <br />2. Climate Action Plan <br />a. St Louis Park <br />i. Initiated by students in 2016 that graded the City with a B- on their climate report card. <br />ii. Thorough and aggressive plan that includes midterm (2030) goals, and 100% carbon <br />emission reduction by 2040. <br />b. LHB (email exchange with staff) <br />i. Create climate action planning processes (like St Louis Park and Northfield) that includes <br />extensive community engagement. Estimated cost $40,000-$60,000. <br />ii. Create a Climate Action Work Plan. This helps set near -term high -impact climate actions. <br />Estimated cost $15,000. <br />iii. Can define and research carbon emission reduction goals by using one of several publicly <br />available resources (https://www.regionalindicatorsmn.com/energy-planning) for cities. <br />Roseville is included in LHB's energy scenario planning tool: <br />https://www.regionalindicatorsmn.COM/wedge/city/2 . <br />c. Opportunities <br />i. Work internally or with a consultant on creating a Climate Action Plan or a Work Plan. <br />3. Building Benchmarking & Builing Policy <br />a.
