Nothing in this section shall prohibit an efficiency living unit 1168 from meeting the followingrequirements: 1169 a.A unit occupied by not more than one occupant shall have a minimumclear floor 1170 area of 120 square feet (11.2 m2). A unit occupied by not more than two occupants 1171 shall have a clear floor area of not less than 220 square feet (20.4 m2). A unit 1172 occupied by three occupants shall have a clear floor area of not less than 320 square 1173 feet (29.7 m2). These required areas shall be exclusive of the areas required by 1174 906.06.D.Items 2 and 3. 1175 b.The unit shall be provided with a kitchen sink, cooking appliance and refrigeration 1176 facilities, each having a clear working space of not less than 30 inches (762 mm) in 1177 front. Light and ventilation conforming to this code shall be provided. 1178 c.The unit shall be provided with a separate bathroom containing a water closet, 1179 lavatory andbathtub orshower. 1180 d.The maximum number of occupants shall be three. 1181 7. Food preparation. All spaces to be occupied for food preparation purposes shall contain 1182 suitable space and equipment to store, prepare and serve foods in a sanitary manner. 1183 There shall be adequate facilities and services for the sanitary disposal of food wastes 1184 and refuse, including facilities for temporary storage. 1185 1186 906.07: PLUMBING FACILITIES AND FIXTURE REQUIREMENTS: 1187 A. General 1188 1. Scope. The provisions of this chapter shall govern the minimum plumbing 1189 systems, facilities and plumbing fixtures to be provided. 1190 2. Responsibility. The owner of the structure shall provide and maintain such plumbing 1191 facilities and plumbing fixtures in compliance with these requirements. A person shall 1192 not occupy as owner-occupant or permit another person to occupy any structure or 1193 premises which does not comply with the requirements of this chapter. 1194 B. RequiredFacilities 1195 1. Dwelling units. Every dwelling unit shall contain its own bathtub or shower, lavatory, 1196 water closet and kitchen sink which shall be maintained in a sanitary, safe working 1197 condition. The lavatory shall be placed in the same room as the water closet or located 1198 in close proximity to the door leading directly into the room in which such water 1199 closet is located. A kitchen sink shall not be used as a substitute for the required 1200 lavatory. 1201 2. Rooming houses. At least one water closet, lavatory and bathtub or shower shall 1202 be supplied for each four rooming units. 1203 3. Hotels. Where private water closets, lavatories and baths are not provided, one water 1204 closet, one lavatory and one bathtub or shower having access from a public hallway shall 1205 be provided for each ten occupants. 1206 4. Employees’ facilities. A minimum of one water closet, one lavatory and one 1207 drinking facility shall be available toemployees. 1208 a. Drinking facilities. Drinking facilities shall be a drinking fountain, water cooler, 1209 bottled water cooler or disposable cups next to a sink or water dispenser. Drinking 1210 facilities shall not be located in toilet rooms or bathrooms. 27
