I live on County Road B, West of Cleveland Ave. I have become aware of the
possibility of 19 new town homes being built on my street. This would be a huge mistake.
This area is already falling apart. As I sit outside more frequently now that I am furloughed
from my nursing job during the Covid Pandemic, I am even more aware of the ridiculous
amounts of traffic on County Road B. Not just cars, but heavy construction trucks, garbage
trucks, delivery trucks. And, NOBODY is driving the speed limit. And, nobody is enforcing the
speed limit. We are Roseville's forgotten area back here.
I'm also noticing the increased amount of young families out pushing their strollers, trying to
walk their dogs, teach their young children to ride their bikes for the first time.... all on the
make shift walking path (because we have no sidewalk system whatsoever in this area) while
enormous trucks are driving by at 50 mph. It is only a matter of time before there is a tragic
accident.
I have lived in this neighborhood for over 13 years and there has never been a park for my kids
to bike to without crossing Cleveland Ave. There is no safe place for them to walk our dog,
rollerblade, hang out with friends, outside of our yards. As we all know the importance of
giving our older kids more freedom and independence, it would be a wonderful addition to
our neighborhood to have a park/trail system in the undeveloped area instead of more homes
that are just going to add to our crumbling streets.
This area of Roseville pays an extraordinary amount in property taxes each year, yet we are
repeatedly forgotten when it comes to city improvements. No sidewalks, no parks, crumbling
roads..... Where is the equity within this city? I just reviewed the City News paper that came in
the mail this week and it perfectly shows the lack of parks in this area. A complete map laid
out of every park in Roseville. Not ONE in this area, not one.
Please make the right decision on this issue. Imagine that you lived in this neighborhood with
your young children or grandchildren.
Katy Westby
