technical assistance, as well as partner -only webinars to share information and best
practices. Partners receive recognition for their efforts through national, state, and
regional media and venues. Becoming a partner is free. The City of Maplewood and
Hennepin County are a part of this program. More information can be found here.
• EPA's WaterSense
This partnership with the EPA is free, and is a program to enable partners to promote
WaterSense products in the community, as well as helps transform the marketplace to
include WaterSense labelled products. More information can be found here.
• Alliance for Sustainability
Alliance for Sustainability is a MN non-profit that manages the Resilient Cities and
Communities Coalition. This coalition enables communities to work together to achieve
their energy, climate, and resiliency goals. Member cities learn together, share best
practices, and provide leadership to other cities. More information available here.
Recycled -Content Products
• Require all departments purchase paper and printing materials that are at least 30% post -
consumer waste (PCW), with a goal of gradually increasing the percentage of PCW,
potentially up to 100%.
The City of Maplewood's EPPP started with all departments buying at least 10% PCW
paper, and increased to 100% over the course of a few years. Roseville could create a
similar goal, and gradually increased the percentage of PCW in the paper they buy.
• All paper products purchased by the City should be chlorine -free certified. Chlorine
Product's Association's Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) and Processed Chlorine Free (PCF)
marks should be preferred for purchasing.
Chlorine free paper is processed without chlorine, which significantly reduces the amount
of harmful waste produced in the paper -making process. The City of Maplewood requires
all paper be chlorine free, and Roseville could create a similar standard in its paper
purchases.
• Additionally, all paper products should contain a chain of custody certification such as
the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Green Seal, the Sustainable Forestry Initiative
(SIT), and/or EcoLogo.
Energy Saving Products
