The city is launching several new programs to help protect the environment. These include Xcel Energy's Partners in Energy (PIE) Program that assists communities in developing and implementing energy plans, and a Voluntary Benchmarking Program for businesses that will launch later this spring. You can receive the latest updates about Roseville's sustainability efforts, including the PIE Program, benchmarking for commercial properties, watershed grant opportunities and more. Public Works Staff Update: • Assistant City Engineer Luke Sandstrom resigned from the City for another job. Staffhopes to have a replacement for this position by the end of March. City Council Update: • Adopted ordinance creating new Chapter 909, Short -Term Rental Licensing. • Adopted ordinance restricting the sale of flavored tobacco products within the city. • Approved contract for Cleveland Watermain project. • Reappointed commissioners to numerous commissions. Major Maintenance Activities: • Street and Storm o Continued winter tree trimming program. Clearing inlet outlets of brush is ongoing. o Plowing activities continued. Problematic with events starting as rain, then freezing. Streets benched back in anticipation of winter's return. Three small snow events have created slippery roads with the very cold temperatures. Staff has used 4:1 sand to salt mixture for these events. o Installed temporary concrete for street repairs one sanitary sewer and one water break. o Plowing activities continued, problematic with events starting as rain then freezing. Water and Sanitary Sewer o Continued repairing water meters and MIUs. o Continuing the process of collecting water service data and upgrading water meters and MIUs in park buildings. o Collected water samples for bacteriological testing. o Continued working with city engineers and consulting engineers on the Galtier and Long Lake lift stations and the Booster Phase 3 Projects. o Repaired 2 broken water mains. o Continue laundering towels weekly used by office personnel for cleaning work areas.
