Proactive Focus on Safety <br />Eureka Recycling believes that, while reactive systems need to be in place to address safety incidents in a <br />consistent and equitable way, the principle energy towards health and safety should be proactive <br />initiatives. <br />The following programs contribute towards building staff engagement in safety and promoting safe work <br />practices: <br />• Manager Safety Culture trainings to ensure that safety is built into the fabric of the organization <br />from the top down. <br />• Monthly Safety Committee meetings with Fleet and MRF representation <br />• Monthly safety focus topics for Fleet and MRF, including training and toolbox talks <br />• OSHA -required training and assessments upon hire, annually, and as needed <br />Management and Employee Responsibilities <br />Management Responsibilities <br />Eureka Recycling's management team is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all employees. <br />Responsibilities include: <br />• Establish committees to address safety and loss prevention issues in the workplace <br />• Identify and evaluate workplace hazards by conducting safety audits and establishing methods and <br />procedures for correcting unsafe work practices <br />• Conduct safety training with new hires prior to starting work, ensures that each person understands <br />his or her responsibility as it relates to this program <br />• Ensure supervisors and employees receive training on regulatory and specific safety practices <br />• Ensure employees are furnished with required personal protective equipment <br />• Investigate accidents for corrective measures, submit injury report and maintain OSHA records <br />• Maintain current knowledge of published safety regulations <br />• Ensure policies and procedures are current and relevant <br />• Hold employees accountable for safety expectations <br />Supervisor Responsibilities <br />The supervisor has the direct responsibility for safety performance and has authority to take whatever <br />action is necessary to prevent accidents. Responsibilities include: <br />• Evaluate work areas to identify hazards and controls to safely perform work <br />• Ensure employees are completing required equipment inspections <br />• Report work related injuries to Human Resources and complete required forms <br />• Enforce required safety practices on job sites using the disciplinary policy <br />• Set a good example <br />Safety Committee Member Responsibilities <br />The safety committee is the key group in our program designed to create and maintain interest in <br />safety. This group is responsible for coordinating the program, supplying the ideas and inspiration, <br />while enlisting the wholehearted support of management, supervisors, and employees. <br />The duties of the safety committee include: <br />
