Continued Page 2.

328

The matter of the petition of Dr. J. H. Windorfer was brought up. Membrez
thought there were some violations. One was that there were two buildings on one
lot and that he was too close to the road as far as set-back is concerned. The
understanding was that a permit had been taken out for a garage and it has been
converted into an office. Also, the question came up as to whether it should be
zoned Business without any restrictions. Mr. Karon said that the Zoning Ordinance
could be amended to allow some businesses to operate in Residential areas, but it
should be limited as to type, such as "home occupation" which could include such
things as music teachers, doctors, dentists, seamstresses. Or we could give a
special permit for a limited number of years.

Connor moved, seconded by Hammersten, that Dr. Windorfer be given a five
year special permit to practice dentistry at 309B No. Hamline Ave. - Lot 18,
Hackney Park. Roll call Ayes-(S) Nayes-(O).

Mr. C. W. Michaels appeared to request approval of st. Albans street from
County Boad B2 northeasterly to connect with Dale Street. Report from Mr. Carley
on this street was read by the Clerk. Mr. Michaels agreed to put the pipe from
the street back tllrough the area as far as is required to meet with the Council's
approval. Hammersten moved, seconded by Membrez, that the road be accepted under
these conditions. Roll call Ayes-(S) Nayes-(O).

Mr. Michaels also requested a letter to the Veterans Administration from
the Council that the street has been accepted by the Village. The Clerk was in-
structed to write same.

Mr. Markham appeared to ask about road restrictions. lKembrez moved, Connor
seconded, that the road restrictions on village roads be lifted as of today.
Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O).

The easement presented by Mr. and Mrs. M. Christensen and Mr. and Mrs.
R. Roberts for Transit Ave. west of Rice st. was found to be correet. as described.
Uembrez moved, seconded by 'Carlson, that the easement be accepted. Roll call
Ayes-(S) Nayes-(O).

Clerk reported on a conversation he had with Mr. Bell, accountant for Pure
Tallow mld 'Soap Co. He wanted to know if it were permissable to push the debris
from the recent fire at their location into a low spot on their property. Clerk was
instructed to write a letter and tell them they could push it onto their own
property and suggest that they cover it up with dirt of some kind.

The Clerk distributed reports from Taylor & McCaskill to the Council members
which showed that the profits at the liquor stores are running approximately
$l200.00 a month.

The matter of beer coolers at the liquor stores was brought up. Connor saið
the stores are losing business because of the lack of coolers. After much dis-
cussion, Connor moved, Hammersten seconded, that we buy two coolers from
Universal Equipment Sales Co. at $7l0.50 each, installed. Roll call Ayes-(5)
Nayes-(O).
