COlmor moved, seconded by Hammersten, that <br />Carley prepare plans and specifications to be presented at the next mevting <br />and that the area be assessed. Roll call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Hammersten moved, Willmus seconded, that a public hearing be held for <br />the opening, grading, and graveling of Skillman Ave. between Hamline and Fern- <br />wood at an estimated cost of $1200.00, to be assessed against the property <br />located on both sides thereof, and that the Council proposes to proceed unde!' <br />Chapter 398 of the laws of 1953. Roll call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). There must <br />be two publications a week apart with the last one being at least three days <br />before the public hearing. <br /> <br />Carley's report on the grading of Roma between Fern\Yood and Dunlap was <br />read by the Clerk. Hammersten moved, Carlson seconded, that Carley prepare <br />plans and specifications mid a closer estimate of cost and submit to the <br />Council for approval. Roll call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />There was discussion about the grading for Dorothy Lindig and the Clerk <br />was instructed to write a letter to Mr. Zibell aSking him to attend the next <br />Council meeting and discuss the future of Eldridge st. from Hamline to Pascal. <br /> <br />Mr. Connor reported on the drainage problem in the area of Mayflower <br />Park which is owned by the Village. He said that only one dry well is used <br />to any extent, and the drainage comes down from various sources onto this <br />property. Connor moved, Eeconded by Harnmersten, that this question be brought, <br />up again at the 8econd meeting in July. Roll call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Connor asked Mr. Karon what had been done about the petition to the st. <br />Paul City CounciJ. for sanitary sewer hook-up in the Lexington-Larpenteur <br />area. Mr. Karon had tentatively drafted a letter which cannot be completed <br />until further information is obtained. <br /> <br />Carlson moved, Hammersten seconded, that the Fire Department send two <br />men to the firemen' s convention at Sauk Centre on ,June 8-9-10 on the same <br />basis of allowance as last year. Roll call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Connor said that we had agreed informally to pay $10,000 to the School <br />Board for certain work. He thought they should submit a statement as to what <br />they plan to do or we should withdraw the offer. The Clerk was instructed to <br />write them a letter asking that they notify us if they are going to avail <br />themselves of our offer. <br /> <br />Carlson moved, Connor seconded, that Hammersten attend the National <br />Insti tute of Municipal Clerks Convention in Omaha beginning May 20th with <br />necessary expenses paid.
