Roll call Ayes-(5) Hayes-(O). <br /> <br />Ernie Hansen, Constable, appeared before the Council with his <br />report for the month of June. He was told of the previous discussion <br />regarding th~ policing of the Village, and said he would be here for <br />the meeting on July 13. <br /> <br />Ed Salverda asked if he could get an opinion from the Attorney <br />General through our attorn~ stating his rights under the law as elect- <br />rical inspector and also if he is allowed to bold a job with a private <br />concern. He stated that he is not able to make a living receiving only <br />1/2 of the permit fees from the Village. Also inquired if contractors <br />that do not take out permits for work and are caught can be charged <br />double the fee as is done in some places. The past week he found 18 <br />oil burner installations that had been done without permits. <br /> <br />Hammersten moved, Carlson seconded, that the ordinances governing <br />building permits, plumbing permits, and electrical permits be amended <br />so that on any of the above permits that are not taken out before work <br />is started, the permit tee be doubled. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Hammersten moved, Willmus seconded, that the ordinance governing <br />electrical inspection be changed 80 that the electrical inspector will <br />receive 2/3 of the permit fee and the Village 1/3 of the fee instead of <br />the present 1/2 to each. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Allen Wessel appeared about the water problem in the vicinity of <br />Sherren between Lexington and Fernwood. He said he was told in the Spring <br />that the slough would be drained and get rid of the water situation. <br />Carley reported that at that time it was thought that Mr. Vik was going <br />to put his road in that addition and would give an easement to reach the <br />State Highway culvert on 36, but the State would not allow Mr. Vik to go <br />ahead with his plans because the State wanted to take over most of his <br />property. Carley suggested that the Council also look at the situation <br />on Sherren on Thursday morning when they are investigating the problems <br />on Burke St. <br /> <br />Plats for the following additions were presented for approval: <br />Rose Park Addition, Sunnrslope Addition and Fernwood Terrace No.2. <br />They were turned over to Mr. Carley to be checked over. <br /> <br />The Clerk read a letter from Clinton Ratfield concerning a drain- <br />age problem on Fernwood and Garden where he intends to build 80me homes. <br />Hammersten moved, Willmus seconded, that the matter be referred to the <br />engineer.
