Continued Page 4.

Kembrez moved, seconded by Carlson, that we purchase a roller
shade for Liquor Store No.2. Roll call Ayes-(5) Hayes-(O).

Ernie Hansen, Constable, appeared before the Council with his
report for the month of June. He was told of the previous discussion
regarding th~ policing of the Village, and said he would be here for
the meeting on July 13.

Ed Salverda asked if he could get an opinion from the Attorney
General through our attorn~ stating his rights under the law as elect-
rical inspector and also if he is allowed to bold a job with a private
concern. He stated that he is not able to make a living receiving only
1/2 of the permit fees from the Village. Also inquired if contractors
that do not take out permits for work and are caught can be charged
double the fee as is done in some places. The past week he found 18
oil burner installations that had been done without permits.

Hammersten moved, Carlson seconded, that the ordinances governing
building permits, plumbing permits, and electrical permits be amended
so that on any of the above permits that are not taken out before work
is started, the permit tee be doubled. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O).

Hammersten moved, Willmus seconded, that the ordinance governing
electrical inspection be changed 80 that the electrical inspector will
receive 2/3 of the permit fee and the Village 1/3 of the fee instead of
the present 1/2 to each. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O).

Allen Wessel appeared about the water problem in the vicinity of
Sherren between Lexington and Fernwood. He said he was told in the Spring
that the slough would be drained and get rid of the water situation.
Carley reported that at that time it was thought that Mr. Vik was going
to put his road in that addition and would give an easement to reach the
State Highway culvert on 36, but the State would not allow Mr. Vik to go
ahead with his plans because the State wanted to take over most of his
property. Carley suggested that the Council also look at the situation
on Sherren on Thursday morning when they are investigating the problems
on Burke St.

Plats for the following additions were presented for approval:
Rose Park Addition, Sunnrslope Addition and Fernwood Terrace No.2.
They were turned over to Mr. Carley to be checked over.

The Clerk read a letter from Clinton Ratfield concerning a drain-
age problem on Fernwood and Garden where he intends to build 80me homes.
Hammersten moved, Willmus seconded, that the matter be referred to the
engineer.
