July 21, 1953 at 2:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Q~ 0 <br />ù \,; <br /> <br />The Village Council met on the above date with the following members <br />present a Carlson, Willmus, Membrez, Connor, and Hammersten. Milner <br />Carley, Village Engineer, w.s also present. <br /> <br />Connor moved, Hammersten seconded, that the minutes of the meeting <br />of July 7, 1953 be approved according to copies sent each member of the <br />Council. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />The Clerk read the minutes of the special meeting held July 14, 1953, <br />at 2:00 P.M. Willmus moved, Connor seconded, that these minutes be ac- <br />cepted as read. Roll call Âyes-(5) N~es-(O). <br /> <br />The Clerk read report from Carley on bids received for the grading <br />and surfacing of Roma between Fernwood and Dunlap. The low bid from <br />Ernest Markham of $1964.00 met all specifications. Mr. Carley explained <br />the division of costs between the Village and the property owners. <br />The Village share would be $1354.70, and the property owners would p~ <br />for the excavation ($609.30), 1/2 the cost of the gravel ($190.00), and <br />a possible 10%($79.93) for contingencies. This makes a total of $879.23. <br />There is a total frontage on this street of 879.24 ft., making the cost <br />$1.00 per ft., to be assessed the property owners. Mr. Johnson asked <br />about the time it would be completed. He was told the specifications <br />said it would be completed by August 10th, weather permitting. <br /> <br />Bids on <br />Roma <br /> <br />Mr. Laska asked that the assessment for Roma Ave. be made over a <br />ten-year period. The others present did not indicate any preference. <br /> <br />Hammersten moved, Willmus seconded, that the contract be awarded to <br />Ernest Markham at the price of $1964.00. Roll call Ayes-(5) Na,yes-(O). <br /> <br />Willmus moved, Carlson seconded, that the following resolution be <br />adopted in connection with the work to be done on Roma Ave. Roll call <br />Ayes-(5) N~e5-(0). <br /> <br />Resolution: <br />Roma Ave. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Village Council fixed the date for a hearing on the <br />proposed ~rovement of Roma Street from the east line of Fernwood <br />Avenue to the West line of Dunlap Street by grading and installing <br />proper drainage structures, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all property owners whose property is liable to be assess- <br />ed for the making of this improvement were given ten (10) d~s <br />public notice of the Council hearing through two (2) weekly publi- <br />cations of the required notice and the hearing was held and the <br />property owners heard thereon on the 14th d~ of July, 1953, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursufUlt to an advertisement for bids for said improvement <br />the following bids were heard: <br /> <br />Walbon Excavating Co. <br />Koalska Bros. <br />Ernest Markham <br />Ray Sina Const.
