<br />Page 3. <br /> <br />The Clerk read a letter from Carley about the over-all street plan <br />for approximately 2/3 of the Village and the cost thereof - $70 per sq. <br />mile. Connor moved, Hammersten seconded, that the statement submitted <br />by Carley be paid. Roll call AyeA-(!.¡) Naye~-(O). <br /> <br />Howard Bertheussen of the Thomas Company presented for the Council's <br />approval some chains which he would like them to purchase for the road <br />equipment. It was decided that he meet with Carley and Hammersten to <br />find out what the cost would be, and they can make a recommendation to <br />the Council at the next meeting. <br /> <br />The Clerk read a letter from Arvid Johnson of the Automatic Voting <br />Machine Corp. for the Council's consideration. It was decided not to act <br />for the Village election this year, but that they be considered for future <br />years. <br /> <br />Membrez moved, Carlson seconded, that we have one voting precinct <br />for tne Village election on December 8, 1953. Roll call Ayes-(S)Carlson, <br />Membrez, Hammersten N~es-(l) Connor. <br /> <br />Mr. Karon presented a aoticefrom the COPnty of Ramsey on condemna- <br />tion proceedings for a 90 ft. wide strip along Larpenteur Ave. from Dale <br />St. to Lexington Ave. Matter was referred to Carley to determine how this <br />will affect the Village liquor store. <br /> <br />Carlson reported that he had had a call from Louis Kersten about <br />Long Lake Road and its acceptance. Carley said that the road needs work <br />done on it before it becomes a Village street and he would talk to Kersten <br />about it. <br /> <br />Carlson also reported that the constable at Lauderdale wondered if <br />he could be authorized by this Council to make arrests in Roseville so <br />that the fines for ~ arrests made here could be kept by the Village <br />and not go to the County. Karon said he would like to check on the legal- <br />ity of doing this and also on the question of whether lights and sirens <br />can be used on cars owned by the constables themselves. <br /> <br />Carley reported on an agreement 1la98 wi. th Ernest Markham to install <br />pipe north of County Road B2, west of Nancy Place, for $218.00. The owner <br />of the property north of this location Will not allow the water to run <br />across, so the agreement was withdrawn. <br /> <br />Membrez reported on the w.ter situation at Lexington and County Rd.B. <br />He is going to the County Board meeting next week and see what the County <br />is willing to do toward the cost of this project. The plan is to run <br />a pipe line from Lexington and Co. Rd.
