VILLAGE COUNCIL OF ROSEVILLE Regular Meeting TueR. September 1, 1953 at 2:00 P.M. The Village Council met on the above date with the following members present: Carlson, Wi1lmus, Membrez and Connor. Hammersten absent. Ira Karon, Village Attorney, was also present. Willmus moved, Connor seconded, that. Membrez act as Clerk in the absence of Hammersten. Roll call Ayes-(4) Nay-es-(O). Connor mov.ed, Willmus seconded, that the reading of the minutes be waiveLand approved according to copies sent each member of the Council. Roll call Ayes-(¡) Nayes-(O). The Clerk read the petition for rezoning The East 950 Feet of the N 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of the NE l/L of Section 14, Township 29, Range 23 (SW Corner of Co. Rd. B & Dale) presented by Clara Sauter which was up for public hearing, changing it from Farm Residence to a Business District. The recommendation of the Zoning Board was that it be denied at the present time becau~e no definite plans for the development of the property were presented. However, their opinion was that it is suitable for a Business C0rner. Mrs. Huber" the prospective purchaser, asked the Council if it could not be rezoned now before the purchase was made. Carlson moved, Willmus seconded, that the matter be held over to the next meeting so that better plans as to the size and type of business could be submitted. Roll call Ayes-(4) Nay-es-(O). The public hearing was opened on the vacating of a portion of Dunlap Street running 293 feet North from Larpent~ur Avenue. S. J. Krannak explained that the new shopping center, which will extend down to Fern- wood and up Fernwood a ways will create a hazard to pedestrians due to the truck traffic. They would like the remaining width of Duhlap to be used only for pedestrian walk and emergencies. Mr. Lest.er Johnson and Pete Anderson, ne~rby residents, questioned the vacating because of the narrow street on Dtonne, anò they thought Dunlap seems to be the best access out for residents in that area. After much discussion, Membrez moved, seconded by Willmus, that the matter be submitted to the Village Engineer, and possibly the state and county engineers, to make a study with regard to traffic and report at the next meeting on Sept. 15th. Roll call 41e8-(4) Nayes-(O). Connor moved, seconded by Willmus, that bids be opened for electri- cal work at the Old Village Hall. Roll call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). The Clerk opened the bids which were as follows: West Electric Co. St. Paul Electric Co. " Add'l. for Oil Burner Christensen Electric Co. lh73.90 1063.60 54.00 1565.00 Connor moved, Membrez seconded, that the bids be referred to the Engineer for tabulating.
