<br />VILLAGE COUNCIL OF ROSEVILLE <br />Regular Meeting SAptember 15, 1953 at 2:00 P.M. <br /> <br />The Villacic Council met on the above riate with the following members <br />present: Carlson, Willmus, Connor, and Hammersten. Mernbrez-Absent. <br />MUner C~rley, Village Engineer, and Irfl Karop, Vnlage Attorney, were <br />also present. <br /> <br />Willmus moved, Carlson p,econded, that the reading of the minutes <br />be waived and Aprroved according to copiee furni~hed oach member of the <br />Council. Roll call Ayes-(L) Naye<>-( 0). <br /> <br />Clerk read petition for rezoning a piece of property occupied by <br />Ricker's Market (888 Lovell Ave.) from Residence District. A to a Business <br />District. The Zoning Board did not have the opportunity to review this <br />petition, so Willmus moved, Connor ~econded, that t.he hei."'ring he post- <br />poned to the next meeting, October 6th. Roll call Ayes-(L) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />The petition for Clara Sauter to rezone the gw Corner of B & Dale <br />from Farm Residence to Business Di<>trict was reviewGd. It had been <br />referred to this meeting for more definite plans. Mr. Joseph Huber <br />presented plans af> to what was proposed for that area. H~~~ersten <br />movE'd, Carlson seconded, that the following described propert;;r be zoned <br />fro~ Farm Residence to Business District: <br /> <br />1/4 of the NE 1/4 of the <br />29, Range 23.1t <br /> <br />"The East 950 Feet of the Nortn <br />NE 1/4 of Section 14, Township <br />Roll Call Aye~-(L) Naye~-(O). <br />Hænmersten moved, Willmì.4s seconded, that Ordinance No. 167 proviòing <br />for the above change in the zoning m~p and amending n~dinance No. 1)~9 <br />be adopted. Roll call Ayes-(4) NRyes-(O). <br /> <br />The public hearing was opened on the qnestion of the vacat.ing of <br />Dunlap Street. William Reiling present.ed a petition from citizens of <br />the area opposing the granting of this vacating. He said that acr:ordin~ <br />to the law, no street should be vB.cated that is of interest to the public. <br />He charges that Mr. Kr~lnak stole dirt from Dunlap Street, sold it, and <br />the Council did nothing about it. There is now a deep embankment with a <br />perpendicular wall, which is of great denger to both traffic and pedest- <br />rians. It is luck3' for the Village thd no chilrl has fallen down there, <br />as he would be killed. The hole hns been filled ....i th water all Spring <br />anrj is tcriay. He further stated that Mr. Krannak should pot have any <br />special power with thi¡:; Council. He fixed a deal whereby the Council <br />allows him to steal the dirt from Dunl~p Str0et and r0tL the citizens of <br />Rosl";'-:_lle. Now he~antc; to ste2l the very ~treet that¡rå~ òrivir:g on, <br />and 1f he gets b~r in th that, next year he w11J want to steal the1r homes. <br /> <br />Mr. Reiling sáid that Mr. Karon, as Village Attorney, is supposed <br />to represent all of the people, but inetead, he draws up an orc1inance <br />thé't benefits Onl;}í one person. <br /> <br />1h'. B. G. Benson stated that in 1941 ~he road wae ther8 8~d that <br />the school hus uses the roari E'V~'!IJ' day. If the rOf1.d were closed, he <br />and others would have to go to Garden or Lexington, anò he thinks tbet <br />road should be kept open. Hundreds of people use that road. <br /> <br />Lester Johnson asked if the report from Mr. Carley vra~ reé'dy on <br />the traffic study that waf: req1Jest(~d:1t the last meeting.
