DWELLING, TWO-FAMILY DETACHED [DUPLEX], TWO-FLAT: A building located on one lot 364 <br />containing two dwelling units that are horizontally attached or vertically stacked one above the other, with 365 <br />a separate entrance to each unit and with yards on all sides. 366 <br />DWELLING, TWO-FAMILY, SPLIT: See dwelling, two-family, twin. 367 <br />DWELLING UNIT: One or more rooms which are arranged, designed or used as living quarters for one 368 <br />family only. Individual bathrooms and a complete kitchen facility, permanently installed, shall always be 369 <br />included with each dwelling unit. No dwelling unit may have more than one kitchen facility except that a 370 <br />single-family detached dwelling may have more than one kitchen facility provided the dwelling is 371 <br />designed, arranged or used as living quarters for one family only. For purposes of this exception, the 372 <br />family shall not include roomers. 373 <br />DWELLING UNIT, ACCESSORY: A second dwelling unit contained within a single- family dwelling or 374 <br />within a detached building located on the same lot as a single-family dwelling. This definition includes 375 <br />accessory buildings constructed in connection with a private garage or a private garage converted into a 376 <br />dwelling unit. 377 <br />E. 378 <br />EASEMENT: The grant of one or more of the property rights by the owner to, or for the use by, the 379 <br />public, public utility, corporation, or another person or entity. 380 <br />ELDERLY HOUSING: See senior housing. 381 <br />ELECTRICAL SUBSTATION: An assemblage of equipment through which electric energy in bulk is 382 <br />passed for the purposes of switching or modifying its characteristics to meet the needs of consumers. 383 <br />ENTRANCE, PRIMARY: The building entrance which faces the front lot line or is closest to the front lot 384 <br />line and which entrance provides direct access to the principal use. 385 <br />EQUIPMENT BUILDING, SHELTER, OR CABINET: A building or cabinet used to house equipment 386 <br />used by telecommunication providers. 387 <br />F. 388 <br />FACADE, FRONT: The wall of building closest to the street that separates interior spaces from exterior. 389 <br />An open porch without living space above it shall not be considered a front facade. For buildings on 390 <br />corner or through lots, the front facade is usually that facade that fronts the street of higher classification. 391 <br />FAMILY: Family shall mean one of the following: 392 <br />1. Any group of people living together as a single housekeeping unit, all of whom are related by 393 <br />blood, marriage, or adoption plus children who are under foster care; 394 <br />2. up to four people not so related, living together as a single housekeeping unit; 395 <br />3. any group of people living together as a single housekeeping unit, if no more than two adult 396 <br />members function as the heads of the household group and the remaining members are dependent 397 <br />upon them for care and direction due to age, physical disability, a mental incompetency, or for 398 <br />other reasons; or 399 <br />4. any individual, who is the owner, living, and maintaining a common household and using a 400 <br />common cooking and kitchen facility. 401
