8 <br /> <br /> <br />Embrace Organizational Change <br /> <br />In order for community engagement to flourish, organizations and individuals <br />that represent the organization, must be open to organizational changes that are <br />responsive to community insight and allowed for shared power between <br />communities and the organizations that serve them. The process and results of <br />increased community engagement must go beyond activities to involve more <br />community members, but rather become a prominent organizational value that <br />drives everyday decision-making processes. <br /> <br />: <br />1. Conduct an annual Community Engagement Assessment <br />2. Hire a consultant to work with City Staff to: <br />a. Conduct a comprehensive assessment through a racial <br />equity lens <br />b. Develop an equity and inclusion plan <br />c. Build capacity through training and coaching <br />3. Dedicate staff and resources to engagement <br />4. Further develop hiring practices that are inclusive <br />a. Review job descriptions <br />b. Develop and implement a recruiting plan <br />5. Be intentional about engagement & outreach <br />a. Utilize project planning tools that outline the purpose, <br />stakeholders, level of engagement etc. <br />b.
