REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:October 12, 2020 <br />Item No.: 9.f <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Reschedule November 23, 2020 City Council meeting to November 30, <br />2020 <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 The city is required to hold a public meeting to discuss the budget and proposed property tax levy <br />3 for taxes payable year 2021. The Public must be given a reasonable amount of time to comment <br />4 on the proposed property tax levy and budget and to ask questions. <br />5 <br />6 Minnesota Department of Revenue requires that cities with a population greater than 500 are <br />7 required to hold a meeting at which the budget and levy will be discussed, and the public allowed <br />8 to speak. The meeting must be after November 24 and no later than December 28 and held at <br />9 6:00 p.m. or later. This meeting may be part of a regularly scheduled meeting. <br />10 <br />11 When the budget calendar was adopted the originally scheduled Council meeting date of <br />12 November 23rd was used.
