REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:November 30, 2020 <br />Item No.: 7.a <br />Department ApprovalCity ManagerApproval <br />Item Description:Receive 2021 Police Staffing Presentation <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 On January 28, 2019, former Chief Rick Mathwig and current Chief Erika Scheider provided a <br />3 presentation to the Council on police staffing. After considering crime trends, complexity of <br />4 investigations, increasing population and development, and training demands, the police <br />5 department requested the sworn staffing levels be increasedinthe 2020 and 2021 budgets. <br />6 During the City Council meeting on Monday, September 21, 2020, council members indicated <br />7 they would like to receive supplemental information on how the additional officers would impact <br />8 crime rates and improve police service to the community. <br />9 In response to the request for additional information, Chief Erika Scheider and Deputy Chief Joe <br />10 Adams will share a presentationpertaining to staffing with the Roseville City Council. <br />11 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />12 The objective of this presentation is to share information with the Council pertaining to police <br />13 department staffing. <br />14 F INANCIAL I MPACTS <br />15 There are no financial implications to this presentation. <br />16 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />17 Staff recommends Council listen to the presentation and share input or ask questions. <br />18 R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION <br />19 The Roseville Police Department is seeking Council attention to the presentation. <br />20 <br />21 Prepared by:Erika Scheider, Chief of Police <br />22 Attachment:A: Presentation <br />Page 1of 1 <br /> <br />
