I care about the community that I live in, and I want to contribute my related professional expertise and energy into helping those who need to make informed decisions about the services our city provides related to public works, environment and transportation issues. What is your view of the role of this Commission? I believe the role of the Commission is to advise the city council, city manager and the director of public works on public works, environmental and transportation matters. Civic and Volunteer Activities Transportation Advisory Board Chairperson Saint Paul Technical College March 2010 – Present As a member of the Transportation Program Advisory Committee, I serve as a resource and a connection to the workplace for students, instructors and administrators. My focus is to keep faculty apprised of business and industry needs by assisting the school in planning and implementing relevant curriculum. I help to ensure programs are current and relevant to workforce needs. County Sheriff Volunteer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Jun 2014 – Present The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community. Ronald M. Hubbs Center for Lifelong Learning (Adult Basic Education) is a program of the Saint Paul Public Schools' Community Education Department.
