VILLAGE COUNCIL OF ROSEVILLE
Regular Meeting Tuesday, January 5, 1954, 2:00 P.M.

431

The Village Council met on the above date with the following members
present: Willmus, Carlson, Salverda, Olson and Hammersten. I~lner
Carley, Village Engineer, and Ira Karon, Village Attorney, were also
present.

Willmus moved, Carlson seconded, that the minutes be approved as read.
Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O).

Wm. Reiling appeared before the Council stating the last Council was not Dunlap Street
in a hurry to do so many things. Dunlap St. is to be vacated. If you
know lvIr. Krannak as well as I know him, you know his word is not worth
a penny_ Changes are that Dunlap St. never will be vacated satisfactorily
with us. The matter he wants to bring up is that two years ago Mr.
Krannak appeared before the Council with plans and informed the Council
that he had all the material and he was ready to start the work if they
would rezone the property so Itr. Krannak could build his project. Two
years past and no project. The thing I am bringing out is this. Two
years ago ilæ. Krannak was responsible for the removal of black dirt off
Dunlap St. I want this Council to investigate the removal of black dirt
off Dunlap st. as soon as possible and if they find out I am correct
that 200 yards of black dirt or more was removed and stolen from the
Village of Roseville, to instruct Mr. Krannak to return this dirt. In
April 26, 1952, the Council passed a motion to appoint Tony Schmidt as
Building Inspector. One month later they made another motion. Some
time after, both motions were eliminated from the minute books. I want
the Council to take care of the matter on Dunlap St. as soon as possible
and want to be present at that time.

Hammersten moved, Carlson seconded, that the Engineer be instructed to
make a survey of Dunlap St. to see how much of the dirt was removed
from the roadway and make a report on same at the next meeting. Roll
call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O).

Carl Klohn, 1954 Ma1vern St., appeared before the CoUncil in regard to a
petition to release the South Quarter of the Northwest Quarter, Section
17, Tmmship 29, Range 23, except Blocks one (1) and two (2), Garcelon' s
Addition to St. Paul; being Blocks three (3) and four (4), Garce10n's
Addition to St. Paul, and Blocks one (1), two (2), three (3) and four
(4), Lauderdale's East Side Addition to Minneapolis, including the
streets or portions thereof platted with those blocks, according to
the plat thereof on file and of records in the office of the Register
of Deeds for Ramsey County, Minnesota, from Rosevil1e in order to be
annexed to Lauderdale because of the bad sewer and water conditions in
the area. As your records may show, we have had considerable water
conditions, plugged cesspools and the likes. As we see it, there is
nothing the Roseville Council can do; consequently, we appeal for the
release from Rosevil1e, which we do not like to do, but pray upon your
good will to see what the Council can do today_

Petition to
release
Garce1on's
Addition

Ii~. Carley reported that check was made with Minneapolis Sewer Dept. as
to whether or not we can enter in that direction but uKnneapo1is
refused. Next action was to make a survey to determine the drainage
situation which should be completed in a few weeks. As far as sanitary
sewage is concerned, it cannot go in at present time. Would suggest
that unless there is some great hardship involved at the moment, to
