<br />l1li2_ <br /> <br />Mayor Olson suggested Mike Walsh be appointed as Manager of the Liquor <br />Store and Mrs. Tollin was asked her opinion. She said she would like <br />to have him as Manager and felt he was entitled to it as he had the <br />most years of service. <br /> <br />Olson moved, Carlson seconded, that Mike Walsh be appointed Liquor Store <br />Manager at same salary as now received by Hawes, $330.00 per mQnth <br />effective February I, 1954. Roll call AyeSM(5) Nayes..(O) <br /> <br />443 <br /> <br />Mr. Otto Bruss, 909 Grandview, appeared before the Council in regard to Trailer Camp <br />the Trailer Camp. He was shocked to hear that the Council had lost <br />the case in Judge McNally's Court and wanted to ask a few questions. <br />Does the Council plan on appealing the case to Supreme Court? <br /> <br />Mayor Olson stated the Attorney had reported on the case and said it <br />would cost $1,500.00 and up for an appeal. <br /> <br />Bruss said by getting more trailers in there would increase the school <br />load and devaluate their property and felt the Council should go ahead <br />and start suit. <br /> <br />The Clerk and Carley reported on the conditions that might exist if <br />the ruling stood. <br /> <br />Norman Albrecht of 908 Grandview, reported that he had talked to Judge <br />McNally who said there were forty days to appeal. There were about <br />50 homes in the area that would suffer a loss of $200.00 each on the <br />resale of their homes or a total of $50,000 or $60,000 dollars. He <br />felt the residents would be willing to contribute toward the cost <br />of the appeal if it were legal for them to do so. <br /> <br />After much discussion, it was decided that the Clerk check with Karonls <br />office. <br /> <br />Hammersten moved, Olson seconded, that Husby Northview Plat be approved <br />according to the Engineer's recommendations. Roll call Ayes-(5) <br />Nayes...(O). <br /> <br />Willmus moved, seconded by Carlson, that license for Tony's Nite Club <br />be transferred to Jos. Sack, the original owner. Roll call Ayesw(5) <br />N'Wes...( 0). <br /> <br />The Clerk read a letter from the Engineer regarding construction of <br />three dry wells for the drainage of water at north side of Skillman <br />300 ft. of Fernwood. west side of Fernwood between Eldridge and <br />Skillman and Sherren Avenue 600 ft. east of Lexington. <br /> <br />Olson moved, Carlson seconded, that Carley be granted permission to go <br />ahead with above construction. Roll call Ayes...(5) Nayes...(O). <br /> <br />Letter from the Engineer regarding Larpenteur Avenue stores' sewer <br />was read and Carley explained that we should go ahead and find out if <br />we can drain water from Larpenteur and Lexington into the Larpenteur <br />Avenue storm sewer. <br /> <br />Olson moved, Hammersten seconded, that Carley be authorized to investi- <br />gate possibilities of tying in with County ditch.
