The Commission discussed if the goals should be broad or more specific and ways to group similar <br />goals. <br />Commissioner Heikkila noted that some of the 2020 goals could potentially become a Mission <br />Statement for the Commission. <br />The Commission discussed historically how the goals were tracked and ways to potentially track <br />them in the future. <br /> <br />Commissioner Arneson relayed that he is excited about the City Visioning Process and getting <br />community impact on what opportunities can be explored to meet the changing needs of residents. In <br />addition, he noted that it would be nice to complete the Pocahontas Park naming project, if possible. <br />Commissioner Boulton brought up the possibility of looking at alternative or non-traditional <br />sports/activities (skate park, biking, etc.). In addition, he brought up the following ideas: <br /> Central location for amenities <br /> How to incorporate new recreational opportunities into the current park system <br /> “Modernizing current park amenities” <br /> Focus on non-organized activities <br /> Skate park at the OVAL is looking a bit aged and worn <br /> Listen to your neighbors/friends and bring feedback to the Commission <br />He relayed that 2020 goals #2 and #3 are very important to him as a newer Commission member. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lenhart shared that she would like to help find ways to ensure the underserved <br />communities in Roseville are engaged during the City Visioning Project. In addition, she would like <br />to follow and track the progress via equity analysis. <br />Staff relayed that equity will be a top priority during the City Visioning Project. <br />Chair Hoag recommended potentially condensing the active projects (Accelerated Emerald Ash <br />Borer project, Guidant John Rose MN OVAL (OVAL), etc.) into one goal of “Continue to support <br />staff as needed for already identified projects.” However, he did feel that the Pocahontas Park <br />Naming, City Visioning Project and the Campus Master Plan should be separate goals. <br /> <br />Commissioner Arneson added that the potential park at Midland Hills project could be a goal. Staff <br />updated the Commission that this project is anticipated to come before the City Council in the next <br />few weeks with the recommendation of .79 acres of Park Dedication parkland. <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
